Yep , also an increase in whater retention aids slightly in a mechanical advantage allowing for more strength , part of the reason that creatine works.

In practice, most strength workouts will result in some size gain, especially with beginners. So don't go do a bodybuilder workout just because we said a strength workout doesn't necessarily mean you'll gain lean muscle mass, because 90% of the time, you'll gain lean muscle mass.

Re: Strength increase

any time you force the muscle to work harder it will try to adapt to the new work load by trying to grow.

You can grow it if you don't feed it , in order to increase lean mass you need to feed the musle what it needs to repair itself.
I don't agree with the whole "power lifter" vs "body builder" workout idea.
I'm a body builder but i do mostly heavy compound movements to get bigger and stronger , only closer tto contest to i change to a higher rep type exercise for several reasons
1) im in a calorie defecit and won't grow at this point
2) I'm a bit weaker due to extreme dieting
3) higher rep concentration movements are done to improve muscle seperation and defination.

you manipulate your growth and fat loss with diet mostly , not so much as exercise

Re: Strength increase

Jjones is right, diet is more important to muscle gain than the workout.

J- I'm interested in hearing what your workouts are when you're not in pre-comp mode.

Re: Strength increase

I use a DC (Dogg Crapp) training cycle , its basicaly high intensity , low volume , higher frequancey.
You keep a log of weights used and constantly add weight to force the muscle to adapt and grow , one majorly improtant factor is extreme stretching , basicly facial stretching
