terrebonne, or
hey guys i just got a 50 given to me from a good friend of mine, im having an issue trying to get it dialed in though. At 500 yards zero the scope is all the way turned up on height and i need it to go a little further. Im shooting 6" low at 500 and i would like it zeroed at 500. Can i fix this by putting taller rings? Taller base etc.. thank you in advance

Re: stupid newbie question again

1st, what rifle is it, 2nd what scope base and 3rd what scope.

taller base or rings will do nothing for you. You need a scope base with built in moa.

Re: stupid newbie question again

i believe it is a 10 moa base and medium rings is what i was told. Just wondering if by putting a 20 moa base on it would aleviate some of my issue

Re: stupid newbie question again

I think you need way more than 20 moa base. What scope are you using? sound like your scope doesnt have a whole lot of internal elevation.

Re: stupid newbie question again

nope i dont think it does, its kinda a p.o.s. but i couldnt knock it as the setup was a gift. its a center point or something, ive never even heard of the scope lol

Re: stupid newbie question again

I don't think it's graded for 50 BMG. One way of getting out of that sticky situation is to shoot it enough, the glass will probably break. You are going to need at least, SS scope, Leupold, Nightforce or something along that line to have enough MOA and tolerance to the abuse of the 50 BMG. BTW, some friend you have there.

Re: stupid newbie question again

Center Point on a 50? wow. There is your problem, a 22lr scope on a 50.

Get a better scope, like a NF NXS or USO and a 30-40MOA base and life will be good.

Re: stupid newbie question again

He knew i had wanted a 50 for a very long time and have never had the cash to buy one. He had some issues with this one and i fixed it all for him and got it working correctly again (firing pin issues) He decided he was breaking down and buying a barret so he said "here, you can have this one" i know its not a top of the line but its a start on a fun gun to shoot.

good care of the trucks? i hope that wasnt sarcasm lol. my 78 ford has 72000 original miles on it, the chevy next to it has a new crate 350 and is stellar inside, the ford though is getting painted drab green and flat black lol its my hunting truck.

how in the hell do you have a 78 ford with only 72000 miles on it? did you go a few years without driving it or something?

Nope. Buy something that is 50 rated. Falcon is up to 338lm rated. NF would be my pick.

No sarcasm. Remarking on the care you take of your trucks.
