i have a mcm htg stock with williams bottom metal, 700 bdl barreled action and a rock m40 barrel sitting in the garage that i need to get all put together soon. lately i've been thinking about using a detach mag system on this rifle... could i use a detach mag system on this stock already inlet for the williams bottom metal? or do i need another stock?

Re: stupid question about mcm htg stock

Shouldn't be a problem I used the HTG with HS-Precision kit you should only check if the inleting should be corected, you could fix it with some bedding compound

Good luck

Re: stupid question about mcm htg stock

Have seen a few of the USMC M40A1 turn-in stocks with the Badger M5 DBM added and it looks like it has worked well! Member "Matchking" has a picture of an old smear with it installed in the "Precision Rifles....Show em" thread....
here.... Precision Rifles......Show em.... about 1/2 way down the last page.... May want to drop him a PM for pointers..

No problem doing it. You'll just need it reinletted for the DBM. Costs like $70 to do at GA Precision. I have a HTG that was using Williams bottom metal and got the DBM done a few years ago and it works great. Also had it done to an M40A1 return stock for my .243.
