Stupid question incoming

Depending on your shooting goals, ammo choice and "if you do your part", I think that it would work better horizontally

Yes. Typically the cantilever portion goes forward.

20 MOA is enough cant to see the difference between the height of the front and back of the mount; you could also measure the height of the mount from the bottom surface to the bottom of each ring with some calipers. Canted mounts sit ass up, sloping down toward the muzzle.

If it's +MOA then it goes cantilever forward. You can use 0MOA cantilever backwards but it looks sorta fucked up I guess.

the bubble level should be in the rear the way it comes out of the box.
