Alright guys try not to laugh too hard.

I recently purchased a Surefire socom mini 2 the can says it’s good up to 300 win mag which is great because that’s what it’s going on.

However in the next year I want to build a new rifle and am considering 300 PRC or 30O RUM or something along those lines.

Can I use the same can? Still 30 cal obviously and similar muzzle numbers just on the much higher end of what a win mag produces. Try not to laugh too hard, just want to be safe.

No such thing as stupid questions. Definitely call.
I had the same question with my SiCo.
As long as the bullet diameter is less than the baffles, it should be fine for a little extra pressure.
The RUM has a lot of extra pressure.
SiCo Omega was approved, not sure about your SureFire. Call to be positive

I would call over this matter as well. The last thing you want to do is damage that expensive can on a rifle it should not be on and them not warranty it or you destroy the tube where it is not repairable and you have to pay for a new can and go through the form 4 process all over again.... call

Not a dumb question at all. Just because you CAN, doesnt mean you should though, just because of the rated bullet caliber.

"A suppressor is designed for a particular volume and strength, according to the caliber it is meant to deal with. As a result, you’ll see limitations from the manufacturer on a suppressor. “Rated for .308 Winchester, barrels longer than 12 inches” is one example. Or, “Rated for .300 RUM down to 16-inch barrel, .300 WinMag to 12 inches and .308 to 8-inch barrel lengths.”
They have designed and constructed a suppressor that can handle a certain amount of pressure and can deal with a certain maximum gas flow volume, and they are being up-front about what their suppressor will take.
Why? Simple, the noise you hear is caused by pressure. When the cartridge is fired, the chamber pressure is at its maximum, then the pressure goes down as the bullet moves forward, due to the increasing volume of the bore, with the bullet as the plug. When the bullet leaves, there is a certain pressure at the muzzle, called the “uncorking pressure,” and that is what causes the noise we are trying to control."-https://gundigest.com/gear-ammo/suppressors/choose-right-suppressor

I was considering a 300 PRC this past April. I have the Omega 30 cal can, and it is rated for 300 Win Mag. I emailed SiCo to see if I could run it on a 300 PRC, and they said yes as long as I followed the same barrel restrictions as the Win Mag. I emailed them so I would have their answer in writing.

I think that is a very valid question due to the likelihood that the SF can was likely rated/specs written before the 300 PRC came out.
