I'm looking for an extended eye relief (glasses) spotter where I can see .223 holes at 300yds in the right conditions. I've checked some different sites, but haven't come up with anything solid yet. Figured I'd turn to my brothers here for help!
Thanks,
Steve

Re: Sugestions for an EER spotting scope?

Steve,

I suppose the "classic" long eye relief spotter is the Leupold 12-40 x60 Goldring in either the ordinary or the HD version..

Another possibility is the Minox MD62 or MD62ED with their EER eyepiece which is a 21-42 magnification range..

The Pentax 65ED has an excellent reputation for quality, and if you went with one of their fixed power high quality eyepieces in the XW range, (say the XW14 which x28power)they have 20mm eye relief. The cheaper eyepieces in the XF range are optically not quite so good, and have a couple of millimeters less eye relief for comparable powers, as do the zooms.

Kowa do s couple extended eye relief eye pieces for their different scope models. One,the TE-20H is a fixed 25 power, but offers 32mm eyerelief according to Kowas specs..

Nikon offer similar spec'd eyepiece for their ProStaff spotter, but at a fraction of the cost which makes me wonder about their actual optical quality...

Regards,

Peter
