I recently purchased a Sunwayfoto DYH-90B leveling base with a lever clamp on top. Took it out in the field, used it, and walked away with some mixed emotions about it.

First of all, with the bowl tension screwed all the way in, it doesn’t lock up 100%. My rifle is butt heavy, and will start to creep barrel up if left untended. This isn’t really THAT big a deal, but I am wondering if the adjustment range is where it’s supposed to be.

Also, the lever clamp has a small spinning but that adjusts the tension of the locking lever. This seems like a nice feature. The only problem is that it doesn’t stay put and backs loose. I can set it for the plate on my rifle, take the rifle out, then the next time I go to clamp in the rifle it’ll be loose again.

Aside from those minor irritations, the leveling base is pretty stable... I do believe if I’m having any wobble it’s not coming from the base, but from the tripod.

Has anyone else noticed these type of limitations with this equipment? Pretty expected from this price point, or does it warrant a return? At $160ish I am getting pretty close to RRS territory, and I know none of this would be an issue with that equipment.
