The best part about it is the new bullet. A 230gr HP that can do 1300+/- fps and opens to the diameter of a Quarter($.25) with 9" of penetration and a Taylor Effect of 15+

Super Glock!

Re: Super Glock! 50GI

Switchblade,

A long time ago I came to realize that with some of the heavier calibers you want a heavier pistol. When the first stubbed .45s came out they were still all steel and I felt a huge difference in snap to the hand. Then everything went to alloys and plastics. By the time .45 Win Mag and all the .500 Linebaugh's came out it was all back to steel.

Nice to carry, not nice to shoot. In that caliber, I'd go steel frame. No problem with ammo, just reload.

Re: Super Glock! 50GI

Sure is nice to have 2k rds on hand , oOOOhhhhh , yea . its a buck plus a round . ................

Loaded Ammunition:
50GI Factory Ammunition
#GI300A 300gr. JFP 700 fps 20/rds. $23.25 #GI185A 185 gr. CHP 1200 fps 20/rds $42.25
#GI275A 275gr. JHP 875 fps 20/rds. $24.75 #GI230A 230gr. CHP 1000 fps 20/rds $42.25

Re: Super Glock! 50GI

"Why do you carry a 45?"

"Because they don't make a 46!"

"Uhhhh, well, actually........"

If it's loaded to the same pressure as a 45 ACP, it should be very nice to shoot, as well as carry (unless you're a limp-wristed girly-man

). A Smith N-frame with full moon clips in this caliber would be cool, too.

Re: Super Glock! 50GI

The new bullets are solid copper and open up to almost look like a four propped helo blade. When I get a Glock 21 I will go for this set up. I figure a 24# double spring should take away a ,ot of recoil. There is an individual who has the kit and the glock 21. He is also awaiting the new bullets and reloading stuff to do a side by side comparo with a .45 Super and the new HP 50GI at if memory seves 1300+fps to see how the 24# springs make each pistol feel.
Want to own your own pistol round argument,(Small and fast vs big and slow) then get one of the 50GI's and a 357Sig
Ever since I have seen the 50GI, I have been in lust to own a pistol in that caliber because it's basically a big ass 45. It will also give the 10mm a serious run for the money as well

Re: Super Glock! 50GI

I own their 1911 model in 50GI. Its a freakin HAMMER! They also just came out with hollow points which when they expand would almost create a wound channel the size of a 12ga shotgun slug.

Recoil on the 50GI is no more then the 45 ACP on my setup.

Looking at the above stats i am not so impressed with the energy:

300gr at 700ft/sec = 326 ft/lb
275gr at 875ft/sec= 467 ft/lb
185gr at 1200ft/sec= 591 ft/lb
230gr at 1000ft/sec= 510 ft/lb

My 10mm will throw 180gr Hornady XTP at 1350ft/sec = 728 ft/lb and 200gr XTP at 1200ft/sec which = 640 ft/lb. And the 10mm opens up very nicely. I am trying to figure out why anyone would want to down grade in power/capacity and cost of ammunition to this?

Re: Super Glock! 50GI

Looks like fun, even if it is a Glock.I have a buddy that used to be in LE sales for Glock and loves them like his kid.He came to me once and wanted to know could I do a 460 Rowland conversion on a G21.I used a 6" Stormlake barrel and built a comp for it,even without it it wasn't bad. This thing would be right up his alley.I wouldn't mind a Enfield carbine chambered for it.

Honestly after seeing the 460 Rowland I wouldn't bother with the 50gi. Once I get my 1911 built I'm converting my XD45 to a Rowland. It's the same OAL as a regular 45 but has a longer casing and throws a 230 grain bullet 2x faster
