Just got the can, and took it out on my 6.5L. Shooting a 123smk @ 2800mv. The can is a 6.8 AAC M4-2000, and will be switched between the 6.5L gas, and a 6.8SPC for hog eradication.

The suppressed groups opened up to 1" @ 100yds from 1/2+ groups unsuppressed. Is there any chance I can get the groups to tighten back up? Is it worth doing another ladder test with the can on, and find a new load. The current load is at the low node, and I am thinking I could start there and work up to find the next node with the can on. Or will a suppresses gun just not group as well and unsuppressed.

Thanks

Robert

Re: suppressed groups

You should be able to as all my rifles suppressed shoot a little bit tighter groups. What you have to keep in mind is that a suppressor causes back pressure. Bump your load up a little bit to find the next node and test with the can.

Re: suppressed groups

Redo your load work up with the can on...I hit pressure signs a bout .5 grains earlier with the can on than without. My velocity is about 50fps faster with the can on as well..

Adding the suppressor will change your barrel harmonics somewhat, so your accuracy node will likely change as well.

Once I have my load with the suppressor on, I log my unsuppressed zero. POI is repeatable and the accuracy change unsuppressed is minimal.
