I am new to the suppressor game. I am looking into getting a suppressor for a Landtec .308. The rifle will be used in law enforcement. The barrel is going to be cut down and threaded. I want zero shift in impact, if I have to remove the suppressor (which one thread stated was a good idea). I understand suppressed zero and un-suppressed zero will be different. But if I have a suppressed zero and have to take the suppressor off, when I put if back on I want it retain the suppressed zero. I was like something small in size and low in weight. Do I want thread on or quick detach? I am paying for this myself, so something like a Surefire is out of my reach right now (new baby). Any help is well wanted. Thanks

Re: Suppressor for Landtec

Assuming you prioritize the factors you listed over ultimate sound reduction, I would recommend looking at either the AAC Cyclone K, or the Gemtech Sandstorm. The Sandstorm is lighter but also more expensive. Both should have repeatable POI shift and both are fairly compact.

SRT arms, makes a very good titanium suppressor, Shadow XL TI, one of the quietest i've heard, also contact via pm if you would like to hear it in action, its a bit pricey but very light weight, and minimal POI shift. otherwise you could go with something like the yhm phantom 762 built very well, and heavy to prove it, but price is on the lower end of the 308 suppressor line.

Your going to drive on down to KY and show us?

The Cyclone is a great suppressor but for what the OP is wanting I think QD is the only way to roll in his scenario.

Re: Suppressor for Landtec

Zero shift is unobtanium. It may exist by some bizarre fluke with someone's Surefire silencer and weapon combo, but it isn't something that can be purchased today as a guaranteed item.

Surefire is probably your best bet for the most minimal shift.

In your price range perhaps Ops Inc would be a good choice and will probably yield a repeatable shift under 1 MOA if your barrel is properly threaded.

If you need zero shift, a set of ear protectors will do that, but then they may put a pulse through your temple into the stock and that will negatively impact precision as well.

Re: Suppressor for Landtec

I use a QD for my Gemtech HVT on my bolt guns. The POI shift is consistent from on and off and fire again. I agree above as it is probably unrealistic to ask for zero shift. You are hanging a piece of steel off your barrel so the harmonics change alone will change the POI. What you are really looking for is consistent shift.
