I posted this in the semi-auto forum but I have not gotten much response. Hoping I may get more info from the guys that frequent here for suppressor information. I apoligize in advance if this is in the wrong place.

I know this cartridge is kinda catching on and I think it might fit the bill for me. I am thinking about picking up a Rogue Hunter in either 8" or 10".

The gun is going to be used primarily with subsonics and at ranges typically within 100 yards. I am going to SBR it as I do not have a registered lower. I already have a Tigershark can so I am familar with the NFA process and probably will pick up one of the new AAC SDN-6 cans once they are on the market in a few months. Reason being I am concerned that my screw on might loosen up during shooting were the "ratchet" tooth of the AAC flash hider should prevent this, plus it would be shorter and lighter.

My main concerns are the reliablitly of the gun using a pistol length gas system without a variable gas block such as Noveske's Switchblock. I put in an email but have not gotten a response so I am hoping some of you may already have this system.

I did use the search function before and see that Dr. Phil has some good info and has a 10" Noveske barrel but not a complete setup. And there is a group buy going on so now would be the time to jump in on this.

So here a few questions.

1. Will it relyablely cycle the bolt without having an adjustable gas block. For all 3 styles of shooting ie supersonic unsuppressed, supersonic suppressed, subsonic suppressed. My main concern is subsonic suppressed as this will be the primary role. I would be pissed if I spent all the time money and effort to acquire this setup and it didnt run.

2. If anyone is in the know at Noveske is a switchblock in the works for the 300BLK and if so what is the timeframe.

3. Would you go 8" or 10" and why.

4. What is the weight of the 8" and 10" Rogue Hunter models respectively.

5. What is the FPS difference of supersonic ammo from the 8" to 10"

6. What would be the advantage of the more expensive Low Pro or Low Pro w/ VIS besides rail space which I will not use. I am going to KISS and just put a Aimpoint Micro optic and be done.

Thanks for any help you may have.

Re: Suppressor info - Noveske 8" vs 10" 300BLK

Since you have already come across my stuff, I'll keep this short.

1. YES
Since you will be using a suppressor you should be fine with all of the loads you mentioned.
Without the suppressor you will likely have cycling issues with subsonics depending on your BCG, action spring, and buffer.

2. YES
Noveske has stated on http://www.silencertalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=128&t=63031 that they will be releasing a switchblock model.
They also stated that there isn't an ETA and it like will be later than sooner.

3. I went with the 10" because it was the first one available.
The discussions over on http://www.quarterbore.net/forums/index.php regarding 300 Fireball & 300 Whisper barrels came to the conclusion that the 9.5" was the most efficient for that cartridge.

4. Don't know, contact Noveske directly and find out.
They are great people to work with and are very receptive to pre-sales questions.

5. Not sure exactly, but it would likely be ~200 fps.

6. None other than extra real estate for accessories & a place to park you hand.

Re: Suppressor info - Noveske 8" vs 10" 300BLK

Thanks Dr. Phill your response has really helped.

!. If it will relyablely cycle then I guess the swithchblock is not 100% necessary. And relyability is my main concern.

2. I would assume once they do get the swicthblock I could send it back to have it added? The only issue would be could it still clear the forend and I guess I would even mill a notch if I had to or just go with another forend.

3. Well I am not one to try to reinvent the wheel so 10" it is. And if that is the case then #4. no longer holds water.

4. Of the 3 10" models I would think the Rogue hunter would be the lightest.

5. Well the 10" is going to give more so again #3 solves this.

Re: Suppressor info - Noveske 8" vs 10" 300BLK

I wouldn't worry about the switchblock.
Todd from Noveske wasn't even planning to do it for the 300 BLK but was convinced to do it by folks posting that they wanted the ability to shoots subs without a can in an emergency.

My 10" Noveske barrel is very well regulated as far as gas.
Just enough to work the gun 100% of the time using my configuration and no "Gas Face" at all...

Good luck and enjoy your new rifle.
The 300 BLK is a fun cartridge with tons of potential.

Re: Suppressor info - Noveske 8" vs 10" 300BLK

I called and spoke with Joel at Noveske today and he said I should have no problems running the subs with a can.

By "gas face" I am assuming you are referring to the bad blow back you can get with a DI system running full power loads with a suppressor. I shot a friends .223 with a M4 1000 on it and the gas was buring the hell out of my eyes.
