Suppressors Suppressors are Civilized

A solid number to start out with on the video preview… :ROFLMAO:

Was there supposed to be more to that, or was it meant to be just a short 17sec tidbit? Just curious, because I was expecting a little more than that haha.

It was meant to be short, I was setting up equipment for the 2023 season and plan more video this year, sort of a relaunch to video, both long and short

in setting things up, I was testing something and also that I just received new can covers from Can Chaps. Aka Scpe Chaps, and so those were handy.

in my testing I check format, color and style by actually shooting and editing as if it was real. So here I decided to do a short 17 second deal as I noticed they relaunch the anti suppressor campaign this week.

so a test that went live

American Suppressor Association put out a release yesterday on the re-introduction of the bill, if anyone is interested:

In that case, it looks good! I’ve noticed more video content going up lately, glad to see it (and thanks)!

I would consider putting cans on some of my rifles, but I refuse to jump through the hoops and pay the $200/ea tax. That shit rubs me the wrong way. Being an older guy, I grew up with unsuppressed guns and have always used good ear pro, so it's just not a big deal to me. If you don't like it when I shoot my guns at the public range (a pretty rare occurrence anyway) find the nearest registered Democrat and punch that son-of-a-bitch in the face. He/she/it is the one to blame for all this. Well, them and nutless Repubs, so you can give one of those a good uppercut too if you like.

My apologies to anyone who takes offense at this. Have to confess I've already downed 2 drinks this evening. Cheers!

What hoops? You go to the gun shop, do the form 4 that they hold your hand for, and pay the 200 bucks. Pretty simple process. But I can understand it seems daunting at first as that’s what held me back for several years.

Not sure how old you are, but we can thank our great grandfathers for not fighting for their rights in 1934... They've had 89 years to rectify their fuck-up... But nobody has ever challenged the NFA.

Also, like was stated... There's no "hoops". You go to Silencer Shop's website and setup an account. Put in all your demographic information (same as you fill out for a 4473 buying a gun at a dealer). Take a picture of yourself and add it to your profile. Go to your nearest Powered By dealer with a digital kiosk, and digitally upload your fingerprints to your account. Once you've done that, buying a suppressor is as easy as uploading a new photo of yourself once a year. And I think fingerprints every 5 years.

Once all that is in the system, it's as simple as adding the can, stamp, and trust to your cart, and then hit "BUY". Wait for the email, and DocuSign. Then your dealer will email you about Certifying. Once that's done. You're on your way to a 300 day wait. Which, yes, it's complete bullshit, but until we get cans removed from the NFA registry, there's no easier way to get it done.

I used to feel the same way, but I waited for about 10 years and nothing positive ever happened in the way of deregulating them. Then when they had the votes to pass the HPA in 2018, Paul Ryan's bitch-ass shelved the vote because "muh feels" after the Vegas false flag. Then after the election results in Dec. 2020, I decided enough was enough. I bought my first 3 (rimfire, centerfire .30, and pistol .45)... Now I'm 11 cans deep. Once you accept the fact nothing will probably ever change with the NFA or deregulation, you can start enjoying life. If you wait, you'll be waiting forever.

A good friend of mine, former 82nd Airborne sniper, just told me the other day that no one needs a silencer unless they are an assassin or similar type of miscreant. Followed it up with how they'd lay rounds out in the sun, when the bullet heats up there's less friction in the barrel which gives them more power. Learned it in sniper school. SMDH...

I'd love for suppressors to be off the NFA list, but this is what our government is teaching people that use cans, just imagine what the average unelected bureaucrat or politician involved in law making understands about them. Never gonna be an over the counter item.

Former 82nd Sniper said that? 🤦🏼🤦🏼🤦🏼

Your friend might just be completely full of shit and just be trying to sound cool with “shit he learned in the military”. I seriously doubt any sniper instructor said anything even partially that stupid. Sounds like the bullshit of someone who never saw or did anything during his time in. The military is full of those types who feel they need to overcompensate for what they didn’t do while they were in.

Nah, he's not that guy. I know those guys and they're easy to spot. He has too little self awareness to even try to be cool, he speaks in an ADHD fueled constant stream of consciousness with no pretense at impressing anyone. He's a bit nuts and hard to follow, but he's not a liar.

Gotcha. Well I’d consider your buddy an outlier, and wouldn’t assume that’s what is being taught across the board. I know several 82nd and 101st guys that aren’t anywhere near believing any of that. At worst, guys are just taught the bare basics, but not any physics defying tricks to increase velocity or the like. Personally I learned more about ARs AFTER the military then I did in, simply because the military didn’t anything other than maintenance and getting optics dope necessary. Not like the marines are a bunch of geniuses either, but some of that shit would have gotten you laughed right into supply company for the rest of your contract.

So you're making excuses for being lazy?

I mean, I get it. All my unthreaded guns now need threaded, new barrels, or they'll never get shot again. I can see how that would weigh on a guy.

At our local match last year we had a single guy in the squad without a brake. This year everyone but me was running a brake. I called them all assholes and refused to spot because I was getting rocked by their brakes under an awning. I just sat with the tablet and tried to remember to push the right button after every thump.

I literally think to myself “ugh uncivilized peasants” when someone shoots unsuppressed. LOL
I really just don't want to be around someone shooting without a can now, and definitely not with a break. There's not a lot of choice in comps but otherwise I pretty much refuse to do it. Luckily pretty much all the long range guys at my club have cans so, it's not something I have to worry about often.

they may be for a more polite society , who wants to be polite . I like my guns loud and proud quiet is for bb guns I want cannons and explosions every time I pull the trigger I want it heard for hundreds of miles (never going to happen , but dreaming is good ) .

That's what all the Poors and pussies say until they get their first can...

That and “I don’t want to be on no list…” 😒
Let's also not forget the "I don't want the ATF to come kick my door in, and check my gun safe whenever they want... I ain't waving my 4th Amendment rights..." 🤦🏼🤦🏼🤦🏼

I heard all that bullshit growing up from uninformed people. Gotta love all that Fuddlore surrounding the NFA. I swear the .gov puts that shit out there to scare people to keep them from buying cans, SBR's, and sheen guns.

As Freud said, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar... but there seems to be a real fetish for cans being revealed here. So much defensiveness about them, justifications to acquire them - and then there's the denigration of those of us who choose not to use them, as though that couldn't possibly be a valid decision, but rather, a revelation of some moral deficiency.

Ah, it's alright guys. You be you.

You have struck the jackpot of elitist wannabes.

Desperately needing the feeling of being in control of something, anything to fill the void in thier miserable life.

Some of us have a stack of cans and use them as a tool when appropriate, nothing more to it.

I'm personally going to spend my funds on more EC Tuner Brakes.
I find them a very useful tool.

I wish EC would make a suppressed tuner.

Would love to hear the crybaby crowd try and spindocter that into oblivion because that is all they are good at.

I wouldn’t even own something with that dude’s name on it, much less pay money for it. I feel the same way about anything Brittingham has been a part of. 😂

Guns in common use are good to go from the supreme court. I know it sucks, but we don't have constitutional rights anymore, we have table scraps.

If the Biden administration is stupid enough to continue their pistol brace insanity, it could be argued that SBRs are now in common use with 10-40 million owners thus being stripped from NFA via the supreme court. I hope something similar could happen to suppressors.
