Night Vision Surefire Helmet Light or M1 for helmet mounted IR illumination

I am thinking of getting either HL1-B-TN or M1 for helmet mounted IR illuminator. Is one better than another?

The M1 is just a single setting flashlight. The helmet light is a dual band short range illuminator with a Small Ir beacon built in you can turn on and off. How car are you looking to light things up?

No specific distance in mind. I would like something on the helmet to help the goggles out. It does seem that M1 has more power, but how is this reflected in the effective range?

M1 is going to give ~75-100 yards. Also, what kind of helmet are you using? HL1 is a designed to be a ballistic helmet light, but can be adapted to picatinny with this TangoDown (FYI)

Effective range of the M1 is 70 yards. One of most cleanest beams out there.
