Surefire M952 vs M600 Scout

Re: Surefire M952 vs M600 Scout

If weight is a factor, then go with the Scout. Otherwise, I like the tailcap on the M952 (3.3oz difference).

The Scout is also brighter at 200 lumens, whereas the M952 is only 120 stock, although you can get aftermarket high output heads for the 952 as well.

I have the M952V @ 150 lumens and inside it is almost too bright. 150 lumens is a lot of light.

Re: Surefire M952 vs M600 Scout

Scout is lighter as mentioned. If your just going with light, then I like the scout.

Currently I just picked up a M952V for it's light & IR capability. Pretty sweet design

Re: Surefire M952 vs M600 Scout

Originally, I was going to get the M952. But, I saw that there's a kit for the M600 that allows you to switch to an incandescent head with infrared filter. Having that option for less $ than the 952, I thought it was a good idea. You have a higher lumen output but you can still switch when needed, all in the lighter package. That's why Im giving the M600 some thought

Re: Surefire M952 vs M600 Scout

If you need just white light go with the M300A or M600C or M620C. If you need IR/White light go with the M620V. The M952 is an incandescant light and they have bulbs to break and are bad at battery usage. The led's will give you a lot longer runtime they are brighter smaller and are a lot more shockproof.

+1 for LEDs

Re: Surefire M952 vs M600 Scout

M952v

Max Output / Runtime
White 150 .0 lumens / 1.8 hours
Infrared (IR) 120 .0 mW / 8 hours
Tactical Runtime* 1 .8 hours

Advantages
1. 3-5 times the runtime vrs regular models(and 123 batteries are pricy).
2. No need for spare bulbs with the durability of the LED.
3. Built in IR so no need for filters.
4. Very nice and secure QD mount.
5. Comes in a nice anodized matt sand color. The picture on the Surefire website is off in color. It's not metallic gold its matt sand.

These is a guy on e-bay selling them for $265 brand new.

Smaller, yes. But brighter? Surefire 600C is only 200 lumens. The LED head I have is 700.

Stryder- Are you talking about the M952 VS M600? or the Scout 600 VS my led

I just re-read the thread, and was not sure where you were coming from lol

I am comparing the 600C to the M952. The scout is brighter, takes up less rail space and IMO is a better light. I don't care for all the filters etc. That is just fluff. I am not comparing the scout to some aftermarket LED either because that is not a fair comparison. There are aftermarket upgrades to the scout as well. Bottom line, you don't need a 300+ lumen light for fighting because it is just overkill and you can't use it inside because it is too bright. 150 to 200 lumens is the right max output for an indoor / outdoor combat light.

The M1 is cheap and very low output. It's about 1/20 of what the M952V is in performance.

Re: Surefire M952 vs M600 Scout

What Chucky said....also the mount on the 952 has two thumb screws where the m600C only has one. The M620C (white light only) and the M620V (IR/White light) both have SureFire's Integral throw-lever clamp which locks onto any rail regardless of being in spec or not. I have never had an issue with my M600C mounts but I like the extra insurance.

Chucky, I am following you....

Re: Surefire M952 vs M600 Scout

This is very true...the M600C takes up alot less rail space than SureFire's other weapon lights...I can hang it of the end of the rail and use 1.5 slots on the rail where the others take 2 to 3 times more rail space...
