So sadly I don't think I am going to spend time/money right now to try and get a suppressor but I am planning on threading my .260 Rem and putting a Surefire adapter on it as I have been happy with its performance on my 18" MATEN 308. I have a few questions about the process. Not that the .260 is killing me in recoil but I LOVE shooting that rig and I wouldn't mind a little less muzzle flip if I could do it.

1. I have an M40 Contour on the Schneider barrel I have on the rifle, so do I need to have the barrel cut back in order to make a gap because the adapter is much smaller contour and is suited better for the .750 gas gun barrels ? I don't plan on having really ever using the device as an adapter just as a muzzle brake and I like the look as a bonus?

2. Would I be better off using a .30 cal brake or the 6.8 brake both have 5/8-24 thread and both would be fine for 6.5, which would do a better job of braking recoil.

Let me know, thanks guys.

I would get the 6.8 brake, will cut down on gas blow by and will make the brake more effective at reducing felt recoil. I would just make sure the 6.8 Adapter will fit the suppressor you are going to end up with. Also, with the little clearance left on the 6.8 Brake, I would definitely have a well qualified gunsmith install so you don't shoot the inside edge of the exit hole.

Buy a Precision Armament M11, or if you shoot more bench than prone the M41 Severe Duty. I run the M41 on my 260 (make em in 6.5mm) and they have the best shim kit to run the M11 if you don't wanna have it smithed. The M41 makes it a light .243 load, and the M11 on one of my 5R's is like a 100gr 243 load. Lot's of time, and class 3 threads on all Brakes from Precision Armament. But I have a JP RE Brake still in box if you want the best cut in muzzle flip. I can spot hits at 100yds with my 21lb AICS 700 Beanland 260. I ran several Surefire Brakes for years until I did a T&E for several Brake Co's, and I switched all of em out to PA, and JP Cooley.
