I have a quick question about owners with a surefire muzzle break. I got a 7.62 SF MB installed onto my rifle and every time I go out shooting the crown is filled up with powder. I am just wondering if this is how your crown ends up with lots of powder on the crown, and do you clean it.
(shot 50 rounds and was caked with powder residue, and shot yesterday with 30 and the same thing happened)

Do you mean that grey burned powder residue or actual "granules" ? Grey is soot snd is very normal, clean when you get home if it bothers you but it doesn't affect anything.Granules are unburned powder I would try a different powder ( or ammo if it's factory)but that doesn't affect anything either. It's normal and more apparent on brakes because they divert the exhaust gasses sideways leaving this deposit.

Sorry I guess I used the wrong terminology. It is burned powder just residue left on the muzzle. I'm just wondering since it's my first muzzle break. What's the easiest way cleaning this off without messing up the crown?

carbon does really build up in them. i am not using and have no plans of using a suppressor with mine so i didn't rockset it on. when it looks bad, i remove the brake and clean it and the muzzle with carb cleaner and a tooth brush.

edit: i have not used it but i hear gm top end cleaner works really good for things like this if you soak the brake/muzzle in it.

I'm in the same boat as you if I ever buy a supressor it will be in a very long time. I'll have to invest in some carbon cleaner and toothbrush today looks like.
Appreciate it.

I used wipeout foam bore cleaner to clean the carbon build up off of the crown on two of my rifles with brakes. It was a slow process and took a couple of days of soaking and cleaning but it did soften the carbon. They were pretty badly carboned up, now that they are clean it is really easy to clean them up with the wipeout.
