Gunsmithing Surgeon Bottom metal inlet

What shares the same footprint as surgeon bottom metal? Purchased a stock from manners and it’s inletted for surgeon bottom metal and it’s out of stock everywhere. Looking for an alternative.

I think the surgeon bottom metal is a M5 inlet if I recall. So Hawkins, grayboe, or any M5 style bottom metal should work. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Poking around a bit, it looks like the bottom metal @Terry Cross designed is an identical inlet - and NOT compatible with M5 inlets (M5 might fit but will at minimum have a gap around it). That said I can’t seem to find it in stock anywhere either...

The only one I know of is the KMW. I like the KMW a lot, you should definitely try it.

I cannot comment of the KMW piece, but if there is no alternative, I would wait for a Surgeon. I have several and they are a really really nice bottom metal.

Neither the Surgeon or the KMW are M5.
Assuming that you are referring to a Short Action length DBM, the KMW is compatible with the Surgeon inlet and are in stock.
The Surgeon originated from a KMW design.
