I just ordered a Surgeon bottom metal and I am curious to know a few things.

A) Is the inlet larger all around, so when the the surgeon is installed there are no gaps from the BDL inlet?

B) On a bedded rifle will it require the rifle to be re-bedded?

I am trying to figure out if a BDL rifle can be inletted to a surgeon without requiring the rifle to be re-bedded, painted or have any other work done besides just the inlet.

Re: Surgeon DBM inlet vs BDL

If the rifle already has pillars that is not an issue they will be machined when the bottom gets opened up, mcm glues there pillars first then mills out the inlets. Surgeon bottom metal is a good bit bigger the factory rem 700 bdl.
