Fellas i have a couple questions about the Surgeon RSR action. Will this action drop into a HS varmint rem 700 stock properly? Also if i wanted to use a non picatinny rail what scope mounts will i have to use. It doesnt look like from the picture on the web site that a remington 700 ring or base will work. Any ideas or thoughts? thanks Lee

Re: Surgeon RSR action??

Has a low side bolt release and a straight bolt handle, both would require modification of your stock. Regarding the rail I think they are 8-40 screws.

Re: Surgeon RSR action??

base is double pinned and can only get from surgeon but is well worth the money, only hiccup might be the side bolt release on the rsr. maded need minor notching there and were the round straight bolt handle come down. this can be done with a hand round file in under 10min. i promise i did it on a mcmillan a3 for one awhile back.

RSR has a Rem700 footprint, dunno about bolt release. Could be wrong but pretty sure you are stuck with their 20moa rail though... but, call them, they are great and will answer all your questions.

Bolt handle area may need opening (on bottom), as was the case on my AICS.

I will call them tomorrow. I just wish that rail wasnt so dam exspensive. The action is priced very nice, but when you add the rail its a 1000 bucks. Lot of nice actions out there for 1000 bucks. I may just go with another predator, but i wanted to check on this first. I already have several predator actions. thanks a bunch! Lee

Re: Surgeon RSR action??

if you are willing to spend $1000 get a defiance. they are like butter and typically done in around 3 weeks. skunkworks 911 action is made by defiance and is a true drop in ss, one piece bolt, side bolt release, double pinned lug and base, threaded knob.

do it!!!
