Hi Guys ,

Does anyone know IF Surgeon can do the mods to their action so that you can run std AW 10rd mags ?

I know some gunsmiths do the mods , but would like to be able to get it done straight from the maker .

Re: Surgeon SA for AW mags ?

While Surgeon will not make the modification. It is worth the time to have one of the top smiths like APA make it for you. I will not build another rifle that runs mags and not have it setup for the AW mags. The price of the AW mags is very close to that of the AI mag and you can still run the AI mags after the mod to accept the AW mags.

The mod can be done to any Remington style BDL action but it's not something I would recommend you do with a Dremel.

Right now I know of no maker that is doing this straight up but this will change in the near future.

I've done plenty of Remington actions as well as custom clone actions but not too many want to spend the extra to have a Remington mod done or don't want to add the funds to have a custom action done either.

Surgeon did tell me, unofficially I'm sure, that they may produce a limited run of actions compatible with AW mags sometime in the future.

It already changed, our Avenger II runs AW mags in the .308 cartridge size action.

Yes I saw that but I was really referring to US makers and yours isn't on our shores just yet for availability.

When and if it does make it here it will just force the US makers that have yet to do it to re-think that decision, some already are.

Like I said I think there will be some big surprises coming. Maybe at the next Shot Show.

I only offer it when doing a complete build.

Double stack 10 rounds much shorter then 10 round center feed AI AICS mag. You can load the mag from the top while still in the weapon.

What about Badger, aren't they setup to run AW mags without modification

Not a Remington footprint.
