Felas i am getting ready to buy pieces for a coyote rifle that is long overdue. What i am thinking is that i would like to use a surgeon SRS action and put it into a HS rem varmint stock. The old style stock that came on the rem 700 VS with non palm swell. I know that this surgeon action is a little different than a rem 700 so my question is, will it fit properly into one of these varmint stocks? Please advise. My second choice will be a stiller predator action and i know it will fit! Thanks Lee

I think the only problem area's will possibly the lug and the bolt release. If the HS stock has the step down where Rem actions have the side sight screws then it should just be lug issue.

If you are spending the money on a quality action and barrel go ahead and bed the action. You may have to relieve the lug area the rest should fit ok , and a skim bed is all you will need. Marine tex or devcon 10110 will be just fine. The HS stocks and others with the "bedding blocks" are a crap shoot and even if they do fit properly you will gain so much more bedding surface.

I agree about the beading. I have only had one HS stock to rem 700 action that actually fit properly. Most do not. I was going to bed the top regardless. Thanks lee
