Sidearms & Scatterguns Survival/hiking sharpening stone??

Re: Survival/hiking sharpening stone??

I use a Gatco Triceps to touch up the blade, but really it depends on what you're using your knife for and the size of it. I'll sometimes carry a coarse Lansky stone or break out the file on the Leatherman to touch up a hatchet or large knife.

I've never been a fan of diamond sharpeners. They leave too much scoring on the edge for my taste on fine edges and don't work fast enough for heavy work. I just like traditional stone and steel.

I've been using a dmt diafold for years,it works well and is very light weight.

If you really need something, a small Arkansas stone works well.
