Search feature is not giving me the exact thread I seek. Thought I bookmarked it, but can not find it either.

I have a 308 bushmaster orc with the commercial spec collapsible stock. I wish to eventually change it to a PRS.

My question is about the parts needed to complete the swap. I know I need the ar10 prs, or atleast I think I do. I searched this a while back and someone had already done the swap and listed exactly the parts list to complete the job.

I am new as hell to ar/lr-308 to begin with. I get even more confused on which if any parts are compatible between platforms.

Sorry for the noob question.

With the DPMS/Bushy ORC you'll need a few things.

Since it's a LR308 you'll need the AR10/SR25 PRS stock. The AR15 PRS doesn't allow complete cycling of the charging handle.

For the reciever extension a rifle length (A1) is what you will need. For the PRS you do not need the A2 spacer, just the A1 tube.

For a buffer spring and tube you'll need a DPMS/Bushy LR308 buffer and buffer spring.

It's literally that simple. A 308 PRS, 308 buffer and spring, and any Rifle Length RE tube.

ETA: please disregard. Friends don't let friends type/think before they have had enough coffee in the morning! ;-) Sorry for any confusion my previous post may have caused. I misread the platform to be the RRA and not the ORC. The other advise given on the stock swap is spot on.

From my experience:

Installing a PRS=easy.

Removing a carbine tube=pain in the ass.
I drilled the staking out, clamped the receiver to the bench, and beat on the castle nut wrench with a rubber hammer. If you haven't done it before, just be careful.
