Sorry if this has been asked already, but couldn't find any clear answers with exhaustive searching...

If you were going to move an optic from one rifle to another, would you move the optic with the rings, or leave the rings on the original platform? Assume high-quality bases on both rifles (Surgeon and GAP Templar) and rings (Seekins) which were also verified and lapped for good measure.

Since the rings were gently lapped to the current base, I'm inclined to leave them with the rifle, but was curious as to your opinions on the matter.

thanks!

Dave.

Leave the rings in place I move scopes all the time. This is assuming quality bases like badger that are installed stress free are used.

Yep, if the rings have been lapped, leave them. I have moved scopes around on my BR rigs with no issues at all.
