So I finally made the jump after much consideration, and purchased a used SWFA SS10x42M (side parallax adjustment) for $320 (new is $400 from SWFA). My only slight concern is SWFA's warranty. I cannot find anything on their website as to warranty for scopes. The seller assures me the scope's glass and adjustments are as new, but I was just wondering if anyone here has ever had issues with SWFA replacing any type of problem with one of their scopes.

Thanks

Brian

Re: SWFA SS10x42M

Being used it is totally up to SWFA's discretion as I don't remember the warranty on the one's I owned being transferable. But contact SWFA and askt them. The SS is a pretty much bullet proof entry level optic.

Re: SWFA SS10x42M

Just watch the ring position on the M model(away from the turrets as much as possible) and don't over tighten them. I had a problem with the rings obstructing the internal parallax adjustment.

I had no ring marks or permanent damage whatsoever but for some reason the little bit of pressure stopped it from adjusting. I moved the rings and it worked perfect for years.

Re: SWFA SS10x42M

We'll take care of ya even if you didn't buy it from us and even if it is a really early tasco version before we took over.

In regards to the front ring location on the M, as far as we know this problem was limited to one batch many years ago. The internal lens that adjusts parallax was on the high side of its OD tolerance which caused it to bind with heavy duty rings mounted close to the saddle. We changed the tolerance and increased inspection of this area and have not seen a single instance since.

Been on the fence with this scope, but have now made up my mind. My SWFA SS 10x42 is on the way.

I've had one for nine years with no problems and it has been used hard.
