Here's some pics of a 1889 Swiss Schmidt Ruben I picked up a few weeks ago:

nice rifle. love the swiss rifles but never messed with one of these. have to let us know about it. be interesting.

I did some more research on the Schmidt Rubin. It is actually a 1889 model. No much information on this model in "Small Arms of the world. It is the weakest of the Schmidt Rubin designs. Very long action with locking lugs to the rear. The bolt is mis-matched on this rifle. Everything else seems to match. I haven't taken it apart to see all parts of the rifle.
I will post more pics and make up some light loads for some range time with it. I have plenty of brass as I have a 1896/11 and a K-31.

Chambered a 7.5x55 round in the rifle. Looks like it was up-graded from the 7.5x54 to the 7.5x55. Considering the action is not as strong as my 96/11 or K31, I'll make some light loads for it. Might try some Trailboss lead bullet loads like a friend does for 30-06.
