Re: Switchbarrel
Don't need to pin the recoil lug. Keep each barrel mated to its own lug, or have them all set forward to take the same oversize recoil lug.
You can use the same bolt (.473"/standard)in a Rem 700 SA or any other short action; for all .22-250 variants, .225win, all .308 case variants, and all .284win variants.
Need another bolt for .378" (.223 & variants), .442" (PPC variants), and .532" short magnums.
Easiest way to switchbarrel is to use custom barrels. Have them short-chambered and ream the last bit yourself with a handstock. If you live in the country, you can ream and test fire measuring with a gauge when you get the headspace dimension you want.
If you use factory takeoff barrels, and want the engraving to match up precisely you have to grind the recoil lug so your engraving indexes as you want it, or set the barrel forward. Either might require minor chamber reaming if you get under GO Gauge dimension.
Switchbarreling is the best way to become familiar with the critical nature of oal chamber dimension. You will find than minimum oal chambers can perform more precisely than longer ones, and they increase your brass' longevity.
