I LOVE my TAB gear sling I use on a 20" APA bolt gun, but had not considered trying it on a semi.

I have an OBR on the way and have seen threads mentioning the TAB gear as a great option for it. I wouldnt think the sling mounting positions on a semi would be ideal for the TAB.

Anyone have any advice on this who may be running this combo?

Just curious more than anything.

TAB works great on gas guns. If your mounting device is not conducive to using a TAB, then get another mounting device.

Re: TAB gear sling on a semi

I have one on my AR10. The 21" noveske barrel is very front heavy and the rifle is 15.6 unloaded. The TAB sling makes offhand and positional shooting much easier. What kind of advice are y ou looking for and what makes you think the mounting positions wouldn't be good on a gas gun? You can put it on there basically however you want.

I got the version that was meant to be used with flush cups. My UBR stock has a front and rear (and ambidextrous) socket for the swivel to mount into and I placed one on my quad rail somewhat in the middle after experimenting a bit with various positions trying to find what would be ideal for me.

You have an OBR, really, an OBR, no kidding, an OBR, that is awesome, an OBR.

You can get TAB, it's the same, works as well for either. We use TAB Slings on both our Bolt guns and our Gassers, including Jacob's OBR, cause he has an OBR too, like you.

YES AN OBR REALLY

but I am more curious with whether or not I can use my TAB sling on it and actually get the same handiness it brings to my bolt action.

That is awesome, an OBR, I am so happy you have an OBR.

Of course you can, why would you think your OBR would be any different, its just an OBR after all and not some foreign, alien ray guy... They put Turner Slings on KACs, they put TIS on some too, so it's pretty much common sense, your OBR, which is great you got one by the way, is no different.

TAB makes it for sling studs, flush cups as well as mounted loops as in the SR25 system.

The question is, can you handle your OBR and do with a sling what you do with your boltgun, not so much can the sling, but you. The OBR well now, that goes without saying which is why you bought one.

if you need to make another thread about your OBR, please don't hesitate, which glass, which red dot to mount next to your glass, which mount, which color krylon, which bullet, which suppressor, cause I can tell you, the OBR will love a suppressor, so please by all means, and most all don't forget the pictures of your OBR.

Hmmm... I'm going to go on a limb here and say that Lowlight isn't in a great mood.

As for your question, the sling should work well. You may have to play with the mounting a bit, but it's a great sling and by all accounts a great rifle. Enjoy!

P.S. ---- ....OBR....

Glass is sorted and red dots suck.
Mount is OBR 30mm.
Krylon not for me, maybe DC or CK
Bullets- 175mk
Can is desired but out of the budget for now.

Pictures, you can count on it, I will PM your ass a link. But they will suck. Wont stop from taking them though.

The reason I asked this question is because the design of the TAB gear sling seems ideal for a bolt gun, but if it werent mounted on the underside of the weapon, as it is with my bolt gun, it would not seem so ideal.

Having been reading a bunch about the OBR, yes because I am looking forward to getting it, I have seen the TAB gear mentioned more than once. So, I thought I'd ask some guys, alot of whom I trust, if they had tried it. Just a free question, and worth as much.

Re: TAB gear sling on a semi

Shooting with a sling is better from a side mount, especially if you are right handed you mount it on the right side of the rifle, this way you don't need the 1/2 twist to cradle the arm. It's called training I recommend some... it makes sling shooting better.

Mounting on the bottom of the rifle is so circa 1986, we've learned a thing or two since then, like side mounted flush cups beat sling swivels, and pic rails are more adaptable than studs.

And here I was assuming everyone used their sling from a side mount.
