I am looking for a tactical bolt or bolt handle for my Rem 700. With my factory bolt, i keep hitting my scope while i cycle the bolt. I don't like that. I feel like a tactical bolt handle would help. Do i need to get my bold machined/threaded to accept a tactical handle, or can i buy one aftermarket. I have been looking online for a while, and nothing really seems too promising.

Re: Tactical Bolts

The best way is to cut the knob off of the factory bolt and have a threaded stud welded or screwed into place and then buy an aftermarket knob. Although Im not certain that would solve your problem. Sounds like you need a knob with a longer neck on it, But that will get in the way of your trigger hand most likely

You won't be disappointed. They did the knob on my 700 and it's awesome. Turn around was very quick as well; highly recommended!

Re: Tactical Bolts

If you have the tools and are HANDY, you could grind or cut the knob down and thread it. I've done half a dozen and they all look good. Might take up to an hour to do.

Re: Tactical Bolts

i'll look at my scope placement. It's a new setup... so it might not be right. also my first set up. But, as far as phoenix goes, i just talked to them on the phone, and regardless, i'll probably send them my bolt maybe even my barrel. they seem like good guys, good prices. good all around.

Why is the best way?

Re: Tactical Bolts

the best low cost and extremely effective for the money is a KRG bolt lift knob

their quite a few ppl have them and their was a long running thread about their experience with them, i do not have time this sec to search for it

i know theirs ppl out their think they need a 120.00$ knob but ive had 4-5 this the best one ive had for many reasons but mostly its the $$

Because the Rem 700 bolt handle is hollow, By welding or threading in a stud you increase the strength. I seen several where the stock bolt has just been ground and threaded break off.

The issue with the KRG bolt knob in this specific situation is the factory bolt knob is already hitting the scope. So depending on which part is contacting the scope, this may make the situation worse.

Re: Tactical Bolts

I know exactly what you are talking about, I've been there! A longer tactical bolt knob will fix this. It moves your hand out and up ever so slightly, but just enough to work your bolt?
