I have heard several horor stories when it comes to the process of acquiring suppressors so I thought I would let you guys know about a very different experience. I decided I wanted to go ahead and get my first suppressor back in March. Several buddies have them and they all had different suggestions. The one common theme I kept hearing was find someone who already has the suppressor I want in stock. That was harder than I anticipated. I had decided that I wanted a Thunderbeast 30BA and multiple brakes so I could run the suppressor on multiple rifles. I started calling all of NC suppliers that were listed on Thunderbeast's website. (I had already set up a trust). I finally called Tarheel State Firearms after hearing over and over that these other dealers didn't have what I wanted but could order it (adding months on to my wait). When I called Tarheel State Firearms, Scott answered the phone, told me he did have the 30BA as well as the others that were listed in stock on his website (he had several from many companies). Scott patiently walked me through the process about the tax stamp which I could purchase from his website and really simplified the process for me. It was a good conversation but the best part was when he said I should get approved and have my suppressor in about 4 months. I quickly asked him to repeat that thinking I had lost tract of what he was telling me. He said that he filed his applications electronically and that the wait isn't nearly as long as mailing it in. On March 8 he submitted my application. Since paying him, he has always answered every time I have called and responded to every email with the hour. He does business the way that a customer expects and could not have been more professional. The customer reviews on his website also show this. About 2-3 weeks ago I decided that I wanted him to go ahead and send me my brakes, mirage cover, etc. I quickly received them and installed the brakes on the rifles. This past Sunday night (July 6), I received an email saying my status had changed to Approved. Yesterday (Monday, July 7) I called Scott, who lives 3 hours away and he said he could either mail all of my stuff to the sheriff and explained the 10 day wait or that I could come pick it up from him and sign the paperwork at his place. I told Scott that I wouldnt be able to leave work until 6:00. He said no problem, he didn't mind if it was midnight before I got there. I got to Scott's late last night, filled out my paperwork, picked up my 30BA and came on home. I will get to shoot it after work today but I really want to thank Scott and encourage the rest of you NC guys to contact him the next time you are shopping around for a suppressor. He may not be able to get you yours 2 days shy of 4 months but he will definitely take care of you and treat you in a way that you will appreciate. Now the wait shifts to my Gap-10 and November Alberta whitetail hunt.
