A friend of mine just bought a rifle that has one of these scopes on it. The ret is a fine crosshair with a dot in the center, and has 1/8 moa turrets. How good of scopes are these? Thanks for any help.

Re: Tasco 10-40x50 scope

I fellow shooter recently bought 2 Tasco 6-24 Varmit scopes for his rifles. 1 a 223 PSS the other a Remmy 22-250. Neither would hold either verticale or horizontal zero after 20 or so shots. Stay away from Tasco. Your just throwing your money away.

Re: Tasco 10-40x50 scope

I generaly steer clear of tasco, but I was thinking that I heard some people liking the target scopes they made. I'm pretty sure this Is an older model. It has a rubberized coating on it.

If it holds a zero, adjusts accurately, and doesn't break, it's a 'good' scope for some things but not for others. Now that he's taken a chance on a scope he's gonna find out, but only if and when he knows how to test it.

Steer clear of tasco, they wont hold zero to save their lives, save your money and get a super sniper 10x for $300, they have the best repeatabilty and glass for the price range, hope this helps

On ocassion a blind squirrel wil find an acorn. That sald about 30 years ago before I learned the hard way I bought a Tasco armored 3X9. Much to my supprise it's still in use on my very first ar 15 build. Then again this scope was made in Japan not China or elsewhere in Asia. Maybe that's why it still works and holds zero. I call it "The Freak". The new Tasco's just don't hold up.

A super sniper USED to be a tasco, not anymore. Tasco has nothing to do with them anymore.

Re: Tasco 10-40x50 scope

FYI-my pops(RIP) had an old,70's remington 700 in .270 with a tasco from japan on it,it was my first rifle as he passed away when I was 9,i finally got to fire it when i was 16,im 29 now.It too still holds zero, amazingly. So a few years ago I bought a wallyworld Tasco for my little airgun to see their quality(in general)and that scope is "ab-solute" crap, changes zero when it wants, lol. It also says made in China on it;/.So i went investigating then and found this which explains alot:Company history

Tasco was originally founded and owned by George Rosenfield in 1954. In March 1996, however, Rosenfield sold the business. At that time, Tasco employed 160 people in its Florida headquarters, and maintained a location in the state of Washington, which employed 40[1]. In June 1998, Tasco Holdings, Inc. purchased Celestron, another telescope manufacturer which focused on performance optical equipment and the more serious observer. Celestron was second only to Meade Instruments Corporation among marketing and sales of telescopes[7].

Early 2001, Tasco began searching for a buyer as profits sank. Meade Corporation begins negotiations for a merger, but the Federal Trade Commission blocked the attempt.

By June 2002, Wind Point Partners, parent company of Bushnell Performance Optics (BPO) purchases the Tasco trade name and all intellectual property of Tasco Worldwide Inc. from Tasco Holdings, Inc.

In July 2007, Wind Point Partners sold Bushnell Performance Optics along with Tasco property and sales rights to MidOcean Partners, a private equity firm based in New York and London.

So I guess they're the bottomline rifle scope optics of Bushnell now, interesting in what time can do...For low price "good" optics i like Nikon's personally, goodshootin'

Re: Tasco 10-40x50 scope

Granted tascos are not S&B's but really they are really good on lower caliber rifles. Don't get me wrong I use nice scopes but I have family that are better shots than me with tascos so don't make the mistake of under estimating something just because its not a fad.

Re: Tasco 10-40x50 scope

Before I knew better, Tasco's and Simmons were all I used. Of course I was a teen at the time and they were also all I could afford... They worked ok on my 22lr and sent many a squirrel and feathered friend to an early grave. I found I would need to replace them about every two years because of wondering zeros.

When I could afford a better quality scope I made the purchase and haven't looked back.

Cheap scopes are just that... cheap. I personally would not trust one, but they sell them by the truck load at Wally World to folks that don’t shoot much. They will work in that environment… for a while.
