I have a question for the sake of discussion and general curiosity. Is a shouldered barrel that's been timed and placed at TDC more accurate/consistent than the ever popular barrel nut pre fit barrels? If it is or isn't can you explain why or why not? If it isn't why spend the time to TDC and time the barrel etc? Thanks for any input.

No, not more accurate or consistent. I index them because I can, and they potentially eat up less windage during zeroing. I generally use top tier barrels though, which are very straight to begin with.
