Considering one of the SHV F1s and would like to hear everyone’s experiences with them?

Have there been any zero retention, or tracking errors?

How visible is the reticle against dark backgrounds?

How does the glass compare to other scopes in the same price range?

Thanks,

John

Had one. Excellent scope for the price. Fantastically usable, great glass, solid illumination at dusk, all in all, a great scope. I have nothing but good things to say about it. The only reason I sold mine was to fund a different NF. I may have another someday.
I did not do a tall target test, but I did do a box test. Last 3round group laid right on top of the first one. Passed box test perfectly.

Did only the center cross being illuminated present any problems with seeing the reticle against dark backgrounds or as the light fades? This scope would be used for both hunting and matches.

I will have one in mil configuration going up for sale in a few days that is brand new in the box. Hit me up if anyone is interested.

I love them. Probably the best quality scope for the money, all things factored in. It is basically the old nxs 3-15 F1, one of the nicest scopes ever made. Tracks perfectly, very good lowlight performance, rugged and easy to use. The reticle illum 8s really good for my purposes, but I guess that is a personal preference thing. Im actually going to sell one of mine, plus an NX8, in order to fund another 5-25, but that is not based on anything bad about the F1. One of my guns simply needs more mag.

I feel the same way as these other posters. It is one scope I may regret selling. Well, maybe I already regret it, but it’s on my buddy’s gun. I will very likely have another one someday.
These new ATACR 1-8’s are NOT cheap, so.......

OP, I genuinely feel like you would not be disappointed.

Not at all. I actually shot it in a match one day. It WASN’T the scopes fault I did terrible. Shooting a 16” .308 in 30mph winds likely didn’t help. D119914A-7536-497F-BD9A-C962853B43C3.png

Been learning this long distance rodeo for a few months now but hunted all my life. First thing I’m fixing is optics and the first scope I bought was the NF 4-14 F1 while I waited for my 5-25 ATACR. While it doesn’t have the clarity of my Sworavski for fine detail, that SHV is a rockstar for function and has great glass. Mil,mil and pull the trigger amigo.
