Templar Action fitting into an AICS?

Re: Templar Action fitting into an AICS?

Yes

There is some work that will need to be done to the chassis.

Because the barrel tenon is longer the recoil lug sits farther forward.

This neccesitates the milling of the AICS recoil lug channel at the front and adding material to the rear of the lug channel.

If your handy with a mill and a TIG welder it would make the job easier.

There is also a way with a file and some Devcon.

Knowing what I know now

, sending to GAP would be a good choice.

Re: Templar Action fitting into an AICS?

I swear I saw a Crusader a while back sporting an AICS, but I could be mistaken. If I were you, I'd get in touch directly with GAP and find out what all needs to be done to the chassis to make the Templar fit properly.

Re: Templar Action fitting into an AICS?

Also the rear of the bolt handle notch in the chassis will need to be opened up a little, atleast mine with the PT&G bolt did.

This is easily done with a small file.

A machinest could acomplish the mods to the chassis, especially if they also do the welding.

Have you tried hitting up the usual suspects ( gunsmiths ) here on the hide ?

Re: Templar Action fitting into an AICS?

Not yet, just attempting to see if the modification is doable or a huge pain. Anything can be fit with enough effort, just seeing if anyone does it commonly / quickly / reasonably.

Thanks.

Re: Templar Action fitting into an AICS?

Send it to GAP: it's not a R700 footprint. It takes more than you would think, and they should be able to turn it around quickly enough.

I have a Templar on an AICS 1.5, done by George, but ain't no lefty.
BTW, there is some metal to remove from the recoil lug area, so it is not a drop-in deal.
