Does the cold have any effect on reloading eqpt? I am going to move my bench to the garage and wondered if it would be better to store my dies and tools inside where it's a little warmer. The garage is about 40 right now.

Re: Temps for reloading

I have seen many pieces of loading equipment that are not kept under environment controlled conditions. They usually have a fine rustlike finish that looks great if you are into that kind of vintage look. You can keep everything dosed with liberal amounts of rust preventative or you can keep them in the house. Keeping them in temp controlled area will go a long way to having decent equipment. Never keep powder and primers in a barn or outbuilding that isn't temp controlled, it can be dangerous.

Funny you should ask.

I'm in Miami and we had a cold spell last week, dipping into the 50s at night, lol! I went in to reload and the Dillon 550b was sticking a bit. Not returning to battery on its own.

The lube was colder and things were 'binding' up a bit. I'm sure that I could have gotten the blow dryer and warmed the linkage up, but I decided to strip it all down, clean with slovent and relube.

It's working like a champ now.
