I’ve read solid things on both these actions in articles and reviews and wanted to get some first hand knowledge from shooters and hunters on these actions and try to make a choice of what to go with. Looking at build quality, function, reliability. Thanks
Terminus vs Surgeon action for 6.8 Western

I can't comment on the Terminus but have a few Surgeons. Surgeons run come hell or high water. CK out Lone Peak Fusion TI also for a hunting rig.
Defiance anTI could be a decent choice for a lightweight hunting build, quite happy with mines.
I would argue that the terminus is a more “modern” action than the surgeon and has a few cool features that you don’t get in the surgeon.
Either way both will serve you right. Personally I love 3 lug actions (AI, ARC, Terminus) so I’d go with that but I mean for hunting it really doesn’t matter.

But it’s not like it really makes a huge difference for your application, especially if you plan to just get your blank chambered by your smith and not use prefits.
Sure 10 years ago Surgeon was the go to custom R700 action but now the market is flooded with high quality R700 action with nice features, for example ARC and Bighorn/Zermatt have CRF.
Seems like both actions are in the same price range so I wouldn’t be surprised if most shooters here would go with Terminus over Surgeon for the extra features. That being said the Surgeon is very very reliable and a very well machine “classic” R700 action.
both seem like odd choices for a 6.8Western. not even gonna debate the cartridge.
neither are particularly light assuming it's for hunting based on cartridge choice

Well I went with neither. Ended up going Defiance Deviant GA Hunter with 3 position safety, Hawkins Hunter mag, trigger tech special trigger, Hawkins bottom metal, and had action done in nitride finish.

Sounds like a great build, be sure to post pictures. You definitely wouldn’t of gone wrong with the terminus though I’ll tell you that now incase it pops back up in your mind for a future build
