I thought I would post this. If you have been thinking about getting, or need to renew you Texas CHL now is the time. I put in the request to renew mine on may 16th, and sent out the requested paperwork the next day. I got my renewed license yesterday in the mail. So a little bit over two weeks from start to finish. I know they hired on some extra workers (may just be rumor mill) to clear out some of the back log, but two weeks is an incredible turn around time. So if you need to get it, or renew it do it now. Also they have made some changes. 1 being it no longer has the single action/double action restriction. Two their is no class needed for a renewal anymore. 3 you can do almost the entire process online now. excluding of course finger printing, and such. Just a heads up, GET IT DONE! 2 weeks and 3 days from the day I mailed the requested paperwork I had my new license.

That's funny.

When I moved to Austin I had to go to three different places to take care of automobile stuff, one for the DL, one for the registration, and a third for the title. Took a month to get my permanent license in the mail.

Hope they've improved on that.
