Gave me a chuckle this morning.
Thanks for the pics mate - just wish the new reticle would go into the 315models.

I mean if we're going off pictures...:ROFLMAO: (i assume you're talking about that picture thread)

You can get these for 3500? Point me in that direction good sir..lol

Also buying TT and not jizzing over glass is kind of like grabbing the best looking escort money can buy but claiming you don't you don't care how she looks... lol

Liking the new reticle i thought it would be more cluttered for some reason. Are those .25 increments on the horizontal?

Looks like that transformer is TOAST. and nobody will know WTF happened. Works even better when you use your buddies gun and ammo. :ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO:

Great glass pics. I am sure many of you have seen but, just in case, here is the official reticle card.

If you are looking around, happy to help. We have orders coming in on the Gen3 XR, and have to move some MOA and Gen2 reticles. If CS Tact has not already got your order, give us a try.

TT is a new line. We started carrying after we struck a great deal on Elcan earlier this year. The manufactuer of TT is also the sales and distribution agent for Elcan. Great people. I think we make friends too easily, when it comes to great glass. We say, wow, that is an amazing scope, and the next thing I know, we have a case coming through Customs, and the guy on the other end of the phone, "hey, don't worry, you can send them back if you don't sell." Yeah, like I want to send it back. That is like admitting that you could not buy the pretty girl at the end of the bar a drink.

I am not sending them back. SHOTSHOW in 5 weeks, and these Tangent Thetas need to go. I am not going to talk to these people face to face and tell them that I have left overs to return. Help a brother out. :sneaky:

    Gen3 XR Reticle Card.jpg

I was turned off initially when I saw the reticle card. As many others here the center dot and stadia choices along the horizontal made me scratch my head. The through the scope pics look excellent, and I am not as critical of the GEN3 XR now.

Really jealous of those who have one. ??

Lol. the average ones are the freaks in the sheets

The hashes on the main crosshairs and dots at every 1mil down the tree are .2mil. The lone dots in between the 1mil on the tree are .5mil (Look at the letter"J" on the specs

It can get confusing especially if you look at the "L" specs

You're prolly bringing it up as you hear Frank say .25 on his recent podcast?

Wow, I got to say, it looks a lot better through the scope than it does on the reticle spec card. TT is well outside my current price range, but I think I may have to consider them long-term. I'm still very interested to see what the ZCO looks like, but these are definitely in my "long-range crosshairs," if you'll pardon the pun!

Yeah, Frank did say that on the podcast; likely a mis-speak. Or he could have been thinking about a Gen 3XR MOA version, perhaps.

I like the look of the reticle.

Can you make a snapshot at 5x? Where in SoCal are you?

I wasn't sure about the gen3xr reticle from the diagram but it looks great in the photos. The 1 mill dots (vertical and horizontal) really look good. I'm sold.

North County San Diego. Come shoot our matches 4th sunday of every month and you can check out the gen3xr.

I've tried to convince my wife that I should go to your matches for the sake of my inner piece and all that, but she is not buying it. One of these days....

I plan to test one of these some early in 2019, some time, if I do not make it out to where you are.

Hmmm i can i delete the crap that i said about the reticle :)

When you get one, I'll have a rifle ready for it, so I can snatch it off your hands. I'll know it will be in new condition so I won't need any pics (y)

I really like how the .2 horizontal hash marks build in size across each mil. The Christmas tree looks like it might get a little confusing on where you are at, maybe not, hard to say until behind it.

    That is true lol.

Yeah i was just looking at it and it seemed like it was in increments of 4 so i thought 1/4th deviations. I didn't notice the actually dots on the horizontal. I will say as others have noted it's much more appeasing in reality than it looked on paper.

    Wow those are great pics.

@NoLegs24 in real life at ~15x, how visible are the numerical mil marks? For whatever reason (could just be the rain) they look pretty difficult to see at 15x. Thanks!

@samb300 I'll post 5x, 16x, 20x and 25x later on. Too freaking bright to take a good picture without it affecting the camera in the phone. From pouring and hailing yesterday to super bright sunny San Diego today.... FML

Ok. here are the last updated pics from me. Want more?? Call EuroOptic and buy one haha. Again, all taken at 828y. I wouldn't recomend this reticle in a 3-15x. Too thin just like the Gen2XR in that mag range. That's why they kept the Gen2 Mildot which is better suited......

@NoLegs24 thank you sir for spending the time to take pictures. I’ll be honest, the view through the scope looks a lot better than the reticle card, and I’m not as thrown off by the dots on the 1-mil marks. The fact that they’re big (0.1 mil) helps distinguish them from the 0.2-interval hashes, but at the same time that’s a fairly big dot for holding wind if extreme precision is needed.

I’m assuming the numbers are getting washed out in the picture due to the tree in the background. But it is hard to see them at anything less than 20x, at least in the pictures.

I’ve never owned a TT or a NF, so I’m glad to have the option of both with improved reticles. But how to decide...

    Ok, I want.

I have two TTs right now with the Gen2. Do I NEED the Gen3? No. But I've been bitching about wanting 0.2 increments forever, so I guess I should get one of these at some point. Ugh.

I'm a nub, so forgive me some nubishness. However, someone expain to me why all the jizzing over this reticle, when a reticle that's 1/4-1/5 the price in an Athlon is almost identical? I know TT is the creme de la creme, and that when money is no hinderance one should buy the best and shut up; but really, I can't see much difference here between online pics here and through an ARES ETR? There's got to be more to the story...

How about the rest of the scope??

It's more the fact that this reticle comes in a TT rather than just the reticle itself. No matter how much the fanbois may want others to think so, Athlon =/= TT.

The hype is the fact that a scope such as the TT finally has a new reticle, which has been years in the making. You gotta look at the whole picture.

Fair enough. I was getting lost over the reticle admiration, when it seemed to me that I'd seen that very reticle before; and as a nub, obviously never in a TT. It just struck me as well, fanboi-ism in it's own right. Now, off to continue learning about what I may be missing by not being fully aware of the TT legend...

Honestly, there are a PLETHORA of optics that will reliably fill your needs for significantly less than what a TT will set you back. But if you have deep pockets and need the best, TT is up there with the best of them. I don't have a TT, and likely won't for a looong time, if ever. But I do respect what they are, and have them as a long-term goal to reach for.

Then you and I are more similar than we knew.

I wonder though, if one isn't going into theater, or putting their life in the hands of the guy on the production line, if a Ferrari is all that it's cracked up to be when a Ford still gets the job done. This seems to be my condition: battling the savings account on a "want" when the need is filled and is already affordable.

It’s also a great scope for prs if you ever intend to shoot matches. TT/Premier are basically parallax free after 200 yards so you don’t have to touch the knob. This is an awesome time saver especially if you have to alternate targets between really close and far out.
That’s the type of advantage most don’t truly truly appreciate until you’ve run a scope with sensitive parallax and it costs you time.

@NoLegs24 - Thanks for the pics, that thing is sweet!!! Do you have any pics of the reticle in low/no light with illumination on? Thanks again!

If you’re shooting enough to be considering a TT (or you have expendable income), when something starts going haywire with shots and such during a match, or just in general, you’re going to be wondering if your Ares is the problem.

When you’re trying to get parallax free or have that target set wayyy back in the shadows at 700 yds, you’ll appreciate the TT.

This is also true for just about any optic in the sub 2/2500 range.

If you were asking about the big deal between a TT and kahles/Schmidt/atacr, etc, I would be more inclined to say sure, spend a little less.

Talking about any Athlon and a TT is not even on the same planet.

So you have a safe ( no closet) full of counter snipers I presume?

Drive a yugo, wear Walmart cloths and eat food from the dollar store as well? Surprised you have the internet when you can just read a newspaper.

Ahh, the helpful, friendly keyboarded snickers commence. Did my questions arouse your silly sense of superiority? When I said I was a nub, it was an attempt to avoid doing so, but alas the goblins have smelt blood. Run whilst I can, should I?

Give me a break, your kind of banter will be long gone and guys like me will still wonder what makes TT (Or the next equivalent) worth so much more, regardless if the obvious protectionism and haughty glares and stares of disdain...

I noticed Primus, that you're still the same old child, waiting to troll the next person you think you're better than. Sigh, impressive.

No, no closet, no giant safe. Just a few pieces I've acquired and enjoy, and curiosity. I do actually wear clothes I get at Walmart. I buy food from there too. Got me! Good one, that.

I clicked this thread thinking that I'd actually learn something. All I see so far is a bunch of guys geeking out over Iphone pics of a reticle that looks suspiciously like an Athlon release from earlier last year. Funny how when I ask about it, you resort to calling me names rather than answering my questions or providing information.

I don't need you, and you can't offend me, so get lost Sergeant.

I guess the statement "it's good enough for what I do" applies. I shoot enough to know when an image is clearer between optics. Enough to know that tracking is more important. Enough to know that the instances where the best possible glass clarity and light transmission are helpful. What I want to know, and since I'm an admitted nub here, life I'm sure will be a good teacher, is what makes the TT cause so much drooling fandom to come out of the woodwork?

Seriously, I really want to know. It's not a hypothetical. What makes the TT scopes worth the money over the other market-competitive options? Do they have clearer glass than the $2500 USOs? Than the $2900 Khales? Than the VIPER GII? How about the Swaros or the Zeiss'? I've spent hours behind Swaro and Zeiss Binos and if that's the case, then color me impressed. Are the mechanisms better? Materials? Craftsmanship? What?

One of the reasons I ask, is because the TT website is more of an exclusive gentlemen's club than an informative portal into why their product is better. Interestingly, the "PROFESSIONAL RIFLE TELESCOPES FOR PRECISION MARKSMEN" line makes me chuckle... As if to say, "If you have to ask, you don't belong". Okay, maybe I'm reading into it more than I should, but it does strike me as more of a club than it should. There's no marketing, no explanations, no prices. VERY much like the Lamborghini/Bugatti dealerships. I guess when you attain a certain class, you don't have to explain yourself anymore, you just do; and those that are fortunate enough to be in the know, follow. One does not buy a Lambo if you have to ask how much it costs, right?

Sorry, maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm cynical. But can you blame me? A few posts up a blurry red post that would win the "worst scope reticle picture of the month" award is called beautiful. That says so much, and I am seriously asking what that is. To those in the know; Why?

    I’ve owned:

    Vortex Amg
    Razor Gen II
    Sig Tango 6
    Minox ZP5
    Schmidt 5-25
    Atacr 4-16x42
    Atacr 7-35
    Kahles k525i

So, anywhere from about 1800 up to about 3700 and anywhere in between, I’ve owned.

    What I still own:

    Kahles k525i
    Razor gen 2

The point: just because it’s the most expensive doesn’t mean I’ll end up running it. There are guys here that will tell you I sold the 7-35 literally less than 24hrs after I got it.

The TTs have noticeably better glass than all of these.

The TT turret feel is on another planet compared to all of these.

The TT parallax is amazingly forgiving and pretty much non existent.

The only reason I don’t currently own a TT is I decided to buy an AI last week, so I let a buddy take my TT gen3xr pre order when it shipped 3 months earlier than I expected to need to pay for it. I will be buying either a gen2xr or gen3xr within the next few months.

I don’t like saying things like “you won’t understand until you try it.” But it’s true. I’d heard about the TT turrets and seen videos. But none of them did justice to the turrets. They make every other turret out there feel like a mushy pile of shit cuckold of a turret.

Same principle with Vudoo .22. All these guys out here saying their CZs and such are just as good have likely never tried one. You can tell an instant difference and you know it’s something special.

Is it worth 1-2k more than many of the optics listed? That’s a personal question.

Is the TT noticeably better than most anything in certain aspects? Absolutely
