The Christmas Day Storm in the East

Local news outlets are saying that the mid-Atlantic states could get a pretty good snowstorm this Christmas.

Given the magnitude of having snow falling in populated places that typically don't get that much, what catchy names will the media assign to the event?

My money's on "<span style="font-weight: bold">Apocalypsmas</span>"

I have family in Atlanta. They just have to stay home. Not because they can't drive in snow. But because of the other idiots that can't but get out in it anyway.

One of the funniest things I've ever seen was watching people in Texas trying to drive after an ice storm.

Funny how some thing happens on the east or west coast and it is big news. We had a storm over xmas last year that broke power lines and people had to make it for over a month with out electricity but did not hear much about that storm from national media on the other hand we dont whine and want hand outs like alot of the big citys do either.

I think its hilarious how cranked-up the media seems to get over a couple inches of snow. They have been going nuts in my area since Sunday about the impending snow squalls, frequent updates, etc. Now, they seem to be all depressed that the storm will most likely hit south of us.

Apocalypsmas is pretty damn good, but way too clever for most media ilk!

Maybe "Christmayhem" or "Season's Sleetings"!

"Merry Blizzardmas"
"I'm dreaming of a white-out Christmas"

You can mess with the forecast maps on Weather Underground by date/time:

Re: The Christmas Day Storm in the East

I was wanting a white Christmas and may get blessed. Had a white Christmas every year since Desert Storm. I am absolutely shocked at the panic a little snow and cool temps gets here. They call it a winter storm fall and arctic cold blast......3 inches and 15 degrees, my boys played football in more snow than that and temps below zero. It cancels school here. The last winter blast, people driving 15mph constantly hitting their brakes to slow down. News showed some ol boy trying to back into his drive way spinning tires at 50mph and just kept gunning it....news story, this is how icy the roads are! I am loving the September weather here for winter weather.
