Sorry about that, let's turn this lemon into lemonade. So I recently wrapped a little low cost project to see how well a hardware store refinish job could go. Truth be told money is a little tight but that doesn't mean I can't fake it til I make it. I came home with PlastiDip, Rustoleum Flat Black High Performance Enamel, Rustoleum Camo OD, and Rustoleum Matte Clear finish. All in all I don't think it turned out too bad, it has the look I was going for and time will tell regarding it's durability but this isn't a primary rifle for me so long term durability isn't a huge concern. The Rustoleum paints went on pretty good but my first mistake was not taping off the bearing surfaces inside the action at the tang. Way too tight, but a little acetone later and it's all better now. Maybe one day when the funds replenish I'll take it and get it cerakoted right but this was fun.

After: PlastiDip cheek piece, back strap, and bolt knob. Flat Black action and OD green camo paint with about four coats of matte clear. The skins are new AI's that I bought a while back when I cooked this whole thing up.

Just when I thought I was going to learn something.

Now that you fixed it, it looks great! I'm thinking about spraying my rifle.

What did you do for prep?
