Movie Theater "The Long Walk"

Steven King is a douchebag, but he can write like a MFer. Unlike other successful writers like JK Rowling, who writes like a child, or someone like Michael Chriton, who has wonderful ideas and stories, but writes as flat as a pancake, he is a true master wordsmith writing beautiful sentences that are a joy to read. The Long Walk is in The Bachman Books. I read The Stand when I was a teenager over a weekend. I could not put it down. My favorite is the Dark Tower trilogy. Awesome. I also liked his non-horror stuff. A Painted House is a great book.

It's a pretty short story. Not a "bad" basis for a movie, but the story seems to intentionally leave everything out about how this dystopian, alternate-universe America came about. I'm having a hard time imagining how you fill up a full length movie just watching kids walk till they can't and get shot for 90 minutes... Man vs Man story about human nature, but all of the unwritten background and mystery on how they came to this Long Walk is also kind of the point, and fleshing that out in a movie would change the whole meaning unless done very artfully...

The short story The Long Walk most certainly influenced it's full-novel, big brother, The Running Man.

You'll like it. Hamill is the villian. Contrary to popular belief he's also the villian in Corvette Summer, which deservedly destroyed his acting career (except for Star Wars sequels) in a single stroke.
I don't care if he's the good guy or the bad guy. I'm not watching it, and giving it the ratings click because they chose a shitbag like Hamill to be in it.

watching Trailer . Doesn't seem like there is a lot of depth to this story ? and the 2-Min. Trailer looks like it pretty much sums up the complete movie from beginning to end right there.
