For all you patriotic engineering types and anyone else who wants to participate.

The challenge is for each participant of this exercise to go to Lowe's and purchase any five items that are MADE IN THE USA. Or just post a pic of that item. Whatever. IT HAS TO BE FROM LOWE'S and has to be AMERICAN MADE.

As the pics start coming in, we'll put our heads together and see what we can build out of the items.

Re: The Lowe's Challenge

America voted, the results are in, Crappy chinese stuff has overwhelming approval of the buying public.

Don't hate the merchant when folks won't pay for products built to support American wages.

Notice that Lowes is still employing Americans?

Damn people, stop taking a paycheck, start your own business then tell us in a year how easy it all is.

Martha Stewert only plays with paint and cloth. I play with concrete, rock and dirt...and have barking knees at the days end

The garage is going to be my project when I get my VA stuff as wel as the deck being redone. A drive in shed for the lawn mower and yard stuff, kids bikes and such will go out back. The interior of the garage is going to be a light grey epoxy acrylic floor, white walls and ceiling, with a 2' red stripe on the base, and a pair of 4" red stripes at the roofline ala 1950's RT66 shop. Work benches will be red legs, natural wood tops, and set up for(bench 1) reloading, and (bench2) wrench work. The exterior wall will lose it's window and bunch of gearhead and biker tin signs put up. That's where the bikes will go. Storage for gun type stuff will be on the other side, and I am thinking a small bar table will go between the benches. Looking at possibly a 2k budget next Summer. Sooner or later we have to totally demolish the basement and redo it not only to code, but correctly...that's going to be a 5k budget minimum mostly because at that time I want to switch to a Unico Small Diameter High Flow HVAC system. Large project list is Basement, Garage, Kitchen, and Deck. Small project left is the other side of the house, and finish out the master 'shoebox' bathroom.
QQ has been offering some very solid advice on many of the products and procedures I have been using to get stuff done. Between him, my bro, and my Pop, I have a pretty solid source of go to folks for the 411

Re: The Lowe's Challenge

That's great switch. Glad you found some items American made. 90% of the things I USE from them are all from elsewhere.

Douchbag? Fuck off.

Now I remember why I quit reading/posting in the bear pit.

Re: The Lowe's Challenge

Juan- on the off chance you took genuine insult to switch I am 99.9% sure he was being facetious re: douchebag due to the timing of this post with his already completed projects.

Lets make it interesting (and a lot easier) and switch it to Walmart products made in the USA instead.

I just wish they would employ more people who know what the hell they are talking about. In a switch to Home Depot, I have found two individuals who offer super advice, Lowe's has a guy who know's woodpecker stuff real good so I stick to them for lumber issues. HD guy knows concrete and doors so there I go.
