Has anyone on here heard of or participated in this event. I am considering doing this and I am in the begining stages of planning. I may kiyak it by myself and just row with another guy from work and his son. I am also considering finding a rowing partner and getting a canoe. Is anyone out there with rowing experience interested in doing this?

Re: The MR 340 river race

I want to do it so I have something to train for and help start a regular exercise program for myself. Not only that I think it would be a great accomplishment and great way to see some awesome areas of the Missouri River.

Re: The MR 340 river race

I have not raced this, but have raced the texas water safari 3 times, CR100 4-5 times, and there is a lot of crossover between the two. Many people I know have done the MR340. Their opinions of the race vary wildly, usually in line with the amount of water in the river that year.

If you want a smaller taste of a similar event, look at the Colorado River 100, http://www.coloradoriver100.com/

It's shorter than the MR340 or TWS, but will give you a good into to ultramarathon canoe/kayak racing. I've raced canoes and kayaks for around 10 years as part of adventure racing or canoe races, and learned a lot about how much a kayak can suck in hot weather. A surfski, sit on top, or canoe is much more enjoyable in hot weather.

Look at paddle24seven to find a partner.
