On TCM now.

WWII set movie about a Japanese Platoon fighting Soviets in Manchuria.

Soviet tanks are Shermans. Japanese are using M1919s and Arisaka.

Pretty graphic violence for 1959.

It's subtitled Japanese.

Looks like a great movie from the other perspective.

Wow Japanese are actually wanting to live. No Banzai. Very similar to WWII US plot. More realistic battle stuff with soldiers breaking down, losing it.

Must have been passed through US sensors and had to show Japanese as valuing life over the Emperors orders.
