This came recommended by Buffalo Winter and a couple of others with great movie taste. I finally got to watch it a few days ago and it is first rate.
I suggest that before watching the movie, enjoy these two documentaries on YouTube. One is a pretty good one from Irish TV. The second is a clear propaganda piece from the '60's and re-run in the 1990's as an anti-UN piece. But it resonates.
To understand Siege of Jadotville movie properly, you have to understand how thoroughly and completely the UN sold out Katanga and democracy. Using its "Democratic vote' to use the United Nations to support Socialism against freedom. This is the same UN today that votes hundreds to one against the U.S. (which funds most of it) and Israel and other democracies. While putting Cuba on the Human rights commission.
Jadotville was truly a war crime committed on the Irish troopers by the United Nations.
This video is best taken with a grain of salt. It is a very obvious propaganda piece (and advertised as such.) That doesn't mean it's wrong. Though IMHO, exaggerated somewhat in its portrayal of Katanga as heaven on earth. It was still somewhat of a third world s___hole. But it was on a better trajectory than most of the former colonies which were descending into tribal madness at the time, led by communists like Congo's Patrice LaMumba.**
Anyway, highly-recommend the Siege of Jadotville! Well done and even some good Sniper scenes.

** The Soviet's 'School' for training foreign leaders was Patrice LaMumba University. Named after their fallen Communist Vassel. It was somewhat comparable to our own School of the Americas, though arguably less 'kinetic.' Then again, USA never knew exactly what went on there. Anyone else want to bet that Bernie visited it during his 'honeymoon?' Or Bill Ayers? Or Va Senator Tim Kain? Don't bet against me...
