Maggie’s The Wood Shop

The metal part is done... the wood is just getting started... nice piece of maple... Inletting is way better when done with a milling machine and just finishing with sharp chisels!!!

Apparently, photos are having a problem right now, so I’ll have to upload later.

Photo issue on SH fixed…. I present… war hammer!!!

Had a friend help me inlet the lock as I'm not really great at it! And he knows how to position trigger, pan, etc. Now ready to begin to shape the handle.

Too much farm work and travel coming up to get to it before, probably, 4th of July weekend. But now the fun begins!

That is so cool! Bring it to my house and we’ll shoot at pigs with it.

Light repair. Wife pushed out the back of our half glass IKEA hemnes bookcase (middle quality level). Problem is it is supporting the middle upper bridge piece of our entertainment center area. Essentially below but half glass doors on right side and left side is half width.

Used a piece of 2x4 clamped to hold right side of bridge piece up.

To fix the bow in the back, had to cut a rabbet in each end of a couple of 1x4's.

Decently quick fix and should be a permanent fix. The 1x4 piece sits flush and didn't push the bookcase any further from the wall.

I’ve been plugging along with getting my little wood shop sort of remodeled, cleaned up and organized. It’s small so I want everything on wheels and trying to be efficient with the use of space. It was an absolute disaster before this and I couldn’t find anything or get anything finished in a reasonable amount of time. I added new windows, insulation, tongue and groove walls, a heater, etc. Nice to have dust collection too. And I’m starting a build on a router table with a lift. I’ll update when that’s done

I have been looking into a CNC router set up. Which one is that and what is your opinion of it ?? Trying to figure out how much I would use it. I am bumping 70 and never really needed one.

That one is from Openbuilds. I’ve had it for 3 or 4 years now. It was cheaper because you have to do all the assembly and get it dialed in yourself. It wasn’t terribly difficult, but certainly took some time and a little frustration to get it running well. Openbuilds is going out of business now and if/when the electronics on mine go down, I’ll be replacing with the Shapeoko.
