Is it possible to burn an image into a thermal similar to a NV device?

I am wanting to mount an illuminator/laser on my top rail but even with a riser I can still barely see it in the bottom of my thermal image.

Not sure if it would be bad to have that image in the same spot anytime the thermal is on.

The thing to watch out for with a thermal is to not point the germanium lens directly at a high-intensity light source such as the sun or laser. You will get what is referred to as high-energy damage.

That makes sense. Just wanted to make sure before getting this all set up. I had it on a 45° mount but it was a snag hazard. I prefer to have it on the top rail.
