I will be using a pulsar apex on my 6.5 Grendel for coyote, bobcat, fox and coons. Majority of shots will be between 25-200 yards. Seemingly a 50 yard zero would keep me within 2” at those distances.

Do you guys typically zero at 50 yards with your thermal optics or still do 100?

I do it just like I do with my day optic, but if I had a lesser unit, I would have trouble resolving the zero targets.

In detail: for 300bo, I set up a target at 35m, shoot a group. Shoot at a piece of steel at 200m and get zerod on that

I zero thermal at 50 yards, dead center, and then it is good for my shooting out to about 200. I have shot it at steel plate 6x6 inches out to 300 yards with a hold at the very top and hit just below center. That is with a 6.5 Grendel 129 grain form Alexander arms.

this is what I figured and how I’ll start out. If I find I’m shooting farther frequently, then I’ll try something farther. I use 123 gr so should be about the same.
