We got EIB going on here, and we were going over fire for effect stuff...

One of the things is estimating range... You can do it with a binocular that has mil reticle...

I told my e7 that you can't just look at a target and see how far it is, you have to calculate the distance using the mils... He keeps insisting mils is same thing as meters and that's not how it is...

Then when we shoot an azimuth to the target, you should really use mils instead of degrees because it's more accurate. Now I have my LT and my SFC telling me mils is not for infantry and that we need to use degrees and the FDC will convert the degrees to mils... They don't understand the mils give a more accurate azimuth..

Can't argue with the high ranks. Just frustrating. if they have to range with a mil, they're gonna be screwed. Or if they miss the 1.5km target by few hundred meters cuz they decided to shoot in degrees instead of mils....

Ugh huh

Re: Thick headed people!

Dont sweat it, just throw those 13's a polar mission and bracket that target.

Generally in EIB even if you give a perfect target reading and fire mission they will still throw your shots off target, just to see that you know how to adjust and bracket.

EIB is a great exercise but like any other "Big Army" program, has its flaws.

Are you running the new "EIB Lane" setup?

Re: Thick headed people!

Yeah, we have 3 lanes. I think they're patrol, urban and checkpoint... 10 tasks per lane and 20 mins to complete...

I got my expert qual today, we lost about 15 people (which was mostly HHC and the scout inf (not 19d))

We'll see if it's polar or grid mission. It's a one man event, so if they eff up, they eff up... Still got that 12 mile ruck march at the end

Re: Thick headed people!

Yeah we got EOF for that... The 4 Ss (shout, show, shove, shoot)

Then triage is abdominal before head injury...

I got this down. Just gotta push harder on that run. I need a min off my last.

And the 12 mile ruck will be interesting. Haven't rucked in a while. Bit I'm tall so I have very long steps. I was thnking of jogging a mile for every other mile

Isn't it called and Expert INFANTRY Badge for a reason, or Combat INFANTRY Badge?

I've heard numerous times of attached Medics, office clerks/supply clerks, FISTers and others being told to go through it, or volunteering. It does show on your DD214/ERB and does count for promotion points under the just recently old system.

But, you do have to be an 11 series to wear it.

That's correct. If you change your MOS to 11B in the future' you can then wear it

Re: Thick headed people!

Become a Devil Dog and you don't have to worry about it anymore. Everyone just assumes you're a lean mean green amphibious fightin' machine who has been in combat since he was 17 yrs old and has banged every Susie from Camp Lejuene to Subic Bay.

Taseal-
don't be too hard on your E7, a few weeks ago you were as wrong about mils as he was. Line doggies don't do mils.

Good luck with the EIB.
