I am about to load my first 45 acp batch.

I have 200 (#45160) 45 Hornady 230 gr HP/XTP (.451) bullets.
I have Clays and Vihtvuori N320 Powder.

I am having a difficult time finding the right load data. Using these items, any recommendation?

Re: This is what I have!

Go to Hodgdon Online Reload Data and you can look up the load data for a 230gr .45ACP with Clays. When I looked it up it said to start at 3.5gr and max pressure was at 4gr.

In my experience Clays burns dirty until you get into the higher pressures. With a .45ACP it is hard to get it to burn clean. I used to use Clay, but it was too dirty for my .45ACP.

As always, start at the lower pressures and work your way up.

Re: This is what I have!

I don't have a personal load for thos powders. But I have been loading 230 grain FMJ in front of 6.0 grains of Vit N-340. Out of a standard 1911 it makes 880 fps, 10 feet in front of the barrel.

While I haven't chrono'd it from a revolver yet, it shoots very well in a S&W 25-2 on "moon" clips.

I'm sure you can find some good load data for the powders you have. Do a Google search for Vihtvuori and go to their website. They have some load data there.
